However, current environmental, economic and technology-related issues only work to aggravate already fragile socio-political contexts. Furthermore, contemporary conflicts are heightened by a global conjuncture that allows for an unprecedented circulation of weapons, information and people, prompting the international community to intervene. However, how is this intervention to be carried out if it is to balance regional security policies with humanitarian assistance and the protection of fundamental rights worldwide?
