The five finalists for the Estoril Local Answers Award have been selected. The projects ‘Comunidade Vida e Paz’, ‘Just a Change’, ‘Cozinha com Alma’, ‘LADsensors’, and ‘Sapana (Breaking Bars project)’ are now in the final selection for the ELAA 2019 Award.
Comunidade Vida e Paz is a non-profit organization, created in 1989 to help homeless people. With a team of 590 volunteers, it aims to help homeless people regaining their dignity and to (re)build their life plan.
Just a Change transforms the lives of those in need by renovating their homes into places to live with joy and dignity mobilizing volunteers and local communities.
Cozinha com Alma was born in 2012 to fight the so-called “silent poverty”, by providing a takeaway service that applies all its profits to support and empower families that are going through financial difficulties.
LADSensors Wildfire Monitoring System is a system destined to governments and landowners that uses an array of sensors placed inside the forest, alongside artificial algorithms, to sense, detect and predict early wildfires allowing monitoring of the desired area 24/7 at a cost-effective price.
The Breaking Bars Project aims at increasing job accessibility for people who are or have been in prison, by providing training sessions that improve soft skills such as personal development and communication.
The winner of the Estoril Local Answers Award will be announced on May 15.
