João Sàágua
João Sàágua is Rector of NOVA University of Lisbon (NOVA), elected on June 30, 2017.
Sàágua holds a PhD in Contemporary Philosophy and is Full Professor of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of NOVA (FCSH / NOVA).
João Sàágua has been teaching at NOVA since 1980 accumulating a long experience as a teacher at all levels of graduate education – bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees, both in Portugal and abroad.
In addition to an intensive teaching and research activity, Sàágua holds several academic management positions, notably at FCSH / NOVA, where he was a Director between 2005 and 2013, as well as the President of the Scientific Council (between 2009 and 2013).
Between 2014 and 2017, João Sàágua held the position of Vice-Rector of the NOVA University of Lisbon for the areas of Academy and International Relations.
