Joaquim Franco

Joaquim Franco is a journalist at SIC since 2000. He is a researcher in Religion Science at the Lusófona University of Humanities and Technologies and the co-founder and coordinator of the Religious Freedom Observatory.

Franco is the deputy-coordinator of the Contemporary Christianity Institute and a member of the Board of the Institute of Advanced Studies in Catholicism and Globalization.

He received several awards and distinctions for his work, including the Conscience and Freedom Award (2013), the Journalism for Tolerance Award (2005), the Social Communication – Radio Award (1999), and the Portuguese Parliament Human Rights Distinction (1999), among others.

He has authored or co-authored several publications, including “O Papa no tempo e o tempo do Papa (2018)”, “Papa Francisco – A Revolução Imparável” (2017), and  “Com Franqueza” (2015).
