Teresa lives in Cascais, near Guincho beach, where she began to play with the waves since she was seven years old, initially with a boogie board and later with a surfboard. At that time, she practised various sports, such as football, sailing and athletics, some of them in the school sports project, where she always showed high tenacity and a competitive spirit.
In 2009, she competed for the first time in the national surf schools championship, where she earned the second place.
Teresa Bonvalot joined the Portuguese Surfing Team in 2013 where she has competed in recent years, both Junior and Open, obtaining several medals both collectively and individually.
In 2014, at the age of 14, the Cascais-born won her first national title, repeating the feat the following year. In 2016 and 2017 Teresa won the European Junior World Championship title (WSL). In 2018, she finished in 17th place in the World Ranking of Qualification (WQS).
Teresa Bonvalot was an ambassador of Cascais European City Sport 2019 candidature, and she is part of the Olympic Program for Tokyo 2020 where surfing will be inaugurated as an Olympic sport.
